I ended up skipping over August because honestly it was a rough month. We had to put my mom’s cat down, she had him since he was born and it was just really difficult. I still miss him tons, and especially know my mom does. September has been a little brighter, but mostly appointments and house to-do’s.
So I tried to put together some fun things here for the post, but here’s to hoping October is far more exciting! 🙂

Shopping for New Clothes
I don’t buy new clothes very often, so this was a really fun trip with my sweet SIL. We had dinner at Red Lobster and I tried something new – the shrimp and lobster linguine. It was delicious! I actually ate half of it there, and then ate the rest of it for lunch the next day. There may or may not be to-go containers underneath all of those clothes we tried on, ha ha!
Our 11th Wedding Anniversary
You may remember we celebrated our 10th anniversary (impromptu!) at Pebble Beach. This year, we relaxed at home while watching movies and having pizza and snacks, it was perfect! We also got to celebrate a very big personal house goal!
Little Joys
Small moments that made this month feel warm, cozy, or meaningful.
I’m still enjoying the Aldi trips once per week (I actually broke my rule and shopped twice this week, oops!). It is probably my favorite store to go to now, even though I can’t get everything I need there. I have had success with their chicken, birria roast and hamburger so far! I’ve loved so many of their snacks too.
I wrote about my first month of shopping at Aldi and shared my receipts, they have a lot of good deals there!
I haven’t started making my sourdough yet, but I plan to make my starter next week! I’m so excited to start the process and really hope my first loaf will actually be eatable, haha!

I feel like something in the universe really kicked into gear because I went from zero collabs at the moment to having shipping boxes in my office staring me down! That is a very good problem to have, sweet friends, so I’m very grateful! Things I’ve been loving, watching, reading, or reaching for lately.
Gilmore Girls
Carrie and I are just about done with Gilmore Girls and I’m a little sad about it! I’ve loved this show so much, I’m not really ready for it to end. We are on the Netflix series Year in the Life right now and will probably be all finished by next week. It only has four episodes, even though they’re much longer than the regular show episodes were. I think watching the strong mother and daughter bond between Lorelai and Rory, even as so much changes as Rory grows up, was really special. They navigated different relationships, jobs, friends, and family chaos together. Even when they had their moments of being upset, they always found their way back to each other. Plus, I just love how they order all the yummy foods and watch movies in the evenings haha, reminds me of The Golden Girls in a way!
It has been so fun getting to chat about each of the episodes while watching with Carrie!!
Lindsay Clancy Trial
There probably isn’t a person on the planet that hasn’t heard about the Lindsay Clancy trial! I didn’t watch a ton of the trial because the details just made me so sad, but I did start catching more towards the end when the deliberations were happening. While it ended in a mistrial, I am wondering if the state will retry her or if that’s even possible since the defense has a hearing set for next week to discuss double jeopardy. This trail has been one of the most divisive out there in social media I think, and it’s been very heated. I think the one thing all of us agree on is those sweet babies did not deserve what happened to them and they were failed in every way possible.
Death of a Pastor’s Wife
I have been wanting to watch this Netflix true crime documentary on Mica Miller for a little while now. Since I had to get a subscription to watch the Gilmore Girls Year in the Life show, I figured I should try to squeeze in other shows I’ve been wanting to see on there. If you’re not familiar, Mica was married to JP Miller, a pastor of a Solid Rock Church in North Carolina. He was very clearly abusive to her and with the sermons they shared on this documentary, it’s a wonder he had a single soul in his congregation. I know it’s always easier to judge in hindsight, but they always seemed to be about wives meeting the needs (physical!) of their husbands and they would find it elsewhere if they didn’t give them what they needed and when they needed it. Makes me sick!
And that’s not even the half of it. While he hasn’t been criminally charged for her murder because it was ruled a suicide (I’m not really sure if it wasn’t just framed that way!), he actually is facing charges for making false statements and also cyberstalking. He’s now married to one of the former members of his church, many people believe he was having an affair with her. It’s just all so crazy.
