It’s hard to believe that today is our 8th wedding anniversary!
Sometimes, it feels like just yesterday that Kyle got down on one knee and asked me to spend the rest of my life with him. Other times, it feels so much longer than that and as if we’ve been together for forever (and I mean that in the very best way!).
He always jokes with people how long it took me to even go out on a first date with him…it only took me months, haha!
I prayed so hard before I accepted the date invite because I truly wanted it to be the real thing and I know that probably sounds silly thinking about that ahead of time, but I had a lot of things going on in my life. I was 22 and still living with my parents. I was going to college, working in-between college, studying for/teaching Sunday School, lots of family stuff happening, just all the things friends!
The Lord really showed me that this was worth pursuing even before I went on our first date. It was the 4th of July for the fireworks overlooking the Ohio River. While I was on the date, I felt those butterflies people always had talked about and I just knew. I knew he was the one for me without question. Exactly one year later, he proposed in the exact same place we sat together on our first date. I was literally so clueless even when we arrived to the riverbank, haha! It was so sweet and still makes me smile to this day looking back on it.
He already told his parents and siblings, so they were waiting for us afterwards at the campground my in-laws stayed at on the weekends at that time. It was just incredible! Such a happy day. I can remember calling my parents and my best friend Stephanie on the way there because I was so happy and because I didn’t want them to find out on Facebook first, haha!
Then we got married at that same campground! The owners had a beautiful private entrance to the lake and we got married on their dock. It was so beautiful, very small and simple.
The rest is history, friends! Such sweet memories for me to look back on and just wanted to share a little bit here with all of you. š

Ha ha, I knew you would be able to relate to the coffee! It’s funny about the nails because I have never been one to do them very often, and I just so happened to do them maybe a day before our one year dating anniversary, when he ended up proposing, and so it worked out nicely for photos, haha!
