Having trouble sticking to your goals?

 

You’re not alone!

 

There seems to always be something going on that can easily derail your progress, even with the best of intentions. I have been there so many times!

 

In the distance between creating your goals and actually achieving them are what I like to call stepping stones. These stones are action-packed steps that are needed to pave the way. Each time you check another to-do off your list for a particular goal, you’re placing one of those stones in your path to step on so that you can move onto the next step and lay a new stone down.

 

To be able to truly stay on top of your goals, you need a method (that actually works!) to keep track of your stepping stones.

 

So today, I’m sharing with you what has helped me with my goals and what I’ll be leaning into more during this season of life: habit tracking.

Benefits of Habit Tracking

 

There are a lot of benefits of habit tracking!

 

  • Helps build and maintain consistency
  • Gives you momentum and boosts confidence
  • Provides a clear look at your progress

 

I think the biggest benefit of habit tracking is that it forces you to be aware of where you’re spending your time. We usually don’t lack the desire to reach our goals, but instead get a little off the beaten path when life gets busy.

 

Easy Ways to Track Your Habits

 

Tracking your habits should be something repeatable that doesn’t cause you grief.

 

I love my Cultivate What Matters PowerSheets because it is a goal-specific planner that allows you to track more than one goal at a time and has a habit tracker in each month’s tending list. I’ve also incorporated habit tracking into my Erin Condren LifePlanner by using a stencil or just jotting down my habit and then making seven circles underneath it.

 

P.S. If you like to have something on your phone, I recently started using the Todoist app and I LOVE it. I’ve quickly moved up to a higher Karma level which just means that I’ve ticked off a ton of tasks! This isn’t sponsored, I’ve just been obsessed with it and wanted to share. I’ll do a whole post on it if it’s something you would like to learn more about!

 

You could do the very same in a notebook that you have at home or even on a small writing pad. Truly, it’s about what works best for you and you don’t have to buy anything new to be successful!

 

Simple Ways to Stay Consistent

 

While I believe with my whole heart that habit tracking will serve you well, staying consistent is key! I know it can be so hard to add another thing into your daily life, which is why I’m keeping this as simple!

 

  • Keep your habit tracker somewhere you’ll see it often
  • Be sure that your method of habit tracking is something you enjoy (if not, try a different kind!)
  • Try habit stacking: attach your habit tracking to an already-established habit

 

A good way to continue your habit tracking is to have a designated time each week to check in. Note what you’re keeping up with and what may not be going as well, and don’t be afraid to tweak things or pivot entirely if it’s not helpful.

 

Also, celebrate your wins! It is a big accomplishment to tick off your to-do’s and it will help you keep the momentum.

    I want to be one of those who can create beautiful to-do lists, but I’m just not one of them. Haha. My handwriting also sucks. Instead, I use the Finch app to track my habits and tasks I need to do. It’s been working so far!

I have heard of The Artists Way thanks to you!! I haven’t read it all the way through (regrettably), I have signed up for it on Libby and got through a good chunk of it. I really just need to buy it so I can work at my own pace through it! I loved the morning pages idea and tried that out for awhile, it was very helpful!

So I whipped up my favorite quick and easy chicken tortilla soup, and it really hit the spot! Warm, comforting, and perfect for nights when you want something delicious without spending all evening in the kitchen.

🄣 Chicken Tortilla Soup — Stovetop
Ā 
Ingredients
• 1 lb boneless skinless chicken breasts (cooked — diced or shredded)
• ½ cup diced yellow onion
• 1 tsp minced garlic
• 1 (15 oz) can chicken broth
• 1 cup water
• 1 (15 oz) can corn — undrained
• 1 (10 oz) can original Rotel — undrained
• 1 (10 oz) can enchilada sauce
• 1 envelope taco seasoning
• ½ tsp chili powder
Ā 
Directions
Add everything to a pot on the stove, mix well, and let simmer for 1 hour. The flavor gets even better the longer it sits, but since everything’s already cooked, it’s ready once heated through!

Top with tortilla strips, cheese, sour cream, or whatever your heart desires. 🤤 I love to serve this soup with cheesy garlic bread!
