Why Cards are Important to Me

 

Searching for just the right words to express how you feel about a person is very important to me. I want those words to speak authentically to the recipient. Also, I usually write down something special into each card, as a personal note, and underline any pre-written words that I want to emphasize. I canā€™t take credit for this method, as it is owed to a very special lady who I counted the same as my very own mom.

 

My best friendā€™s mom, who was also my pastorā€™s wife, taught me how meaningful cards are.

 

Judy was a one-of-a-kind woman.Ā 

 

Judy

 

She possessed a true spirit of love and faith, and was always ready to spread cheer and laughter with you. She sent cards for every occasion. She always covered ones that you can imagine, like birthdays and holidays.Ā 

 

More than that, she sent cards for sympathy when she knew you needed those words the most, encouragement when you were going through a difficult season, or even cards that were just meant to celebrate you because she cherished having you in her life.Ā 

 

She wanted you to know how much you meant to her with every single card, and she wanted you to be able to feel the love that she had for you. She was successful with that every time. When Iā€™m having a tough day, or just find myself missing her (which happens often), I pick up one of her cards and read it. I kept all of the cards that she sent me over the years.Ā 

 

Sadly, she passed away from breast cancer a little over four years ago. However, she still speaks to me through her cards and her legacy continues to live on through all those who loved her dearly.Ā
