The second Pebble Beach recap is here!
Today’s recap post is a little more exciting than the first one with my airport chaos story, so I’m extra excited to share it with you!
The hardest thing for us I think was just getting adjusted to the time change (3 hours difference). We were up so, so early and we pretty much stayed on our Ohio time throughout this trip, which surprisingly worked out quite well. Also, one of the best decisions ever by my hubby was to rent a car while we were there. It was SO worth it to be able to come and go as we wanted and was so much cheaper than if we had to uber everywhere.
Just in case you missed my past couple of Pebble Beach/Monterey posts, you can visit those below!
Now is the time to grab your coffee (I’m sipping my iced cappuccino!) and let’s dive in together for the second Pebble Beach recap post!
Breakfast at 3 AM & Coffee by the Ocean
We woke up around 2 AM with breakfast on our minds! It would have been 5 am already back at home. Denny’s was the only place open during that time, so we threw some clothes on quickly and headed there. We arrived at a dark restaurant that had a small sign that said ‘Closed – Under Construction,’ so that was a bummer.
There was another Denny’s in a different part of town that we went to next and thankfully they were open! The parking lot was sketchy (you might imagine any parking lot could be a little sketchy at 3 AM though!) so we opted to park on the street near a streetlight. There was only one other couple there, already eating their food, and a couple of men working there.
You know the first thing I was looking for was some version of iced coffee! I spotted a vanilla cold brew and ordered that, along with one biscuit and gravy. I must have skipped a photo of the food, but you can see my coffee below! It was pretty good and honestly the best thing we could have ate at that time of the morning, not even the McDonald’s was open yet!
We went back to our room then I called to check on my parents. They were so surprised we were up and already had breakfast! I had to check on our little Draino cat, my parents and in-laws were so kind to check on her daily while we were away. I’d worry about her regardless, but she’s an elderly cat that gets sick a couple/few times per week so I really wanted to make sure she was okay. I felt so bad leaving her, but this was very much a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for us or it felt that way.

My cold brew had worn off and I was ready for a better coffee from a local coffee shop around 6 AM, so we headed out to Captain + Stoker. This was such a tiny gem!
They had a lot to choose from on their menu, so I decided to stick with a tried-and-true favorite: a vanilla cappuccino made with oat milk. I ordered a large and was so surprised that this size was their large, haha! Kyle got a vanilla cappuccino too but with regular milk. It wasn’t his favorite, but he’s very much a McDonald’s frappe kind of guy, so this was different! Weren’t they beautiful though?

This coffee shop is pretty close to the ocean, so what better place to enjoy our coffee? I still am in such awe of those beautiful waves crashing in. It was a little chilly, so I’m glad I wore my Reebok sweatshirt (one of my absolute faves, it’s SO soft!).Ā I took a neat photo of Kyle also taking a photo, I love how you can see his picture so clearly in it! We drove a little further down 17-mile drive and stopped at one of the beaches to walk. It was just stunning!
I had no idea until we were walking back to the car that I had spilled some of my coffee on my sweatshirt and of course I had no way of washing it. I rinsed it really well when we got back to our room and put a little soap on it, then tried drying it with a hairdryer. The stain came out later, so I’m thankful!
The Links at Spanish Bay & Our Gorgeous Hotel Room
Kyle had a 12:30 pm tee time at The Links at Spanish Bay, which doubled as the same location we would be staying at for that night and the next two nights as well. More on that later! But first, we went to the golf range so he could warm up.

Next, we headed over to Spanish Bay where I met a couple of the other wives at the pro shop – they were all so friendly! I was invited to hang out with them while the husbands were golfing, but I had already decided to walk with Kyle all three days’ worth. We love doing these sorts of things together and I wanted to be able to see his face and take videos/photos for him throughout too. And I have to tell you, the views I would have missed out on would have made me so sad!
It was just incredible to walk this course (and the others you’ll see in the next recaps!) with him and see him in his element. He is such an incredibly talented golfer and I promise I’m not saying that because he’s my husband, other people will tell you the very same, including a pro golf coach! I won’t flood you with the hundreds I have from Spanish Bay, but I’ll share a few here for you!
P.S. One of the most special parts of Spanish Bay was getting to hear the bagpiper at the end of the round (sadly didn’t get a photo). It was so neat!

I had to include this funny video, you can hear me cackling! Everyone warned us at the golf course that the birds there will grab your food, so you have to hang onto it tight. Look at the birdie go!
Below are a few photos of our gorgeous hotel room at The Inn at Spanish Bay. It was huge and yet, so cozy!

Not only was this a stunning place to stay for three nights, but they kept it so clean and tidy! They came twice a day to clean it, pick up towels/bedding and leave us chocolates! They kept our mini fridge stocked of freebies too, like sodas, water and a few snacks.
Anniversary Dinner
After a very long day (and thousands of steps walking the course!), we could have honestly just showered and went to bed without even eating dinner! But since we were on a trip, it was almost like we HAD to go out to dinner, you know? We showered, got dressed and decided to just eat downstairs so we didn’t have to drive anywhere. It turned out to be such a great idea! There are a few places to eat at The Inn, but we decided on the Italian restaurant called PĆØppoli at Pebble Beach.
We had to be such a funny couple for our server (and probably everywhere we went)! They offered the fanciest wines and we just wanted Coca-Cola, and nearly all of the menu is in Italian, so we had to ask if they had spaghetti or lasagna, haha! Kyle told her we are just simple people from southern Ohio, she was honestly the best and was very understanding! We both ordered lasagna and it was so fancy (and also $50 per plate!), it had crumbled filet mignon versus the normal hamburger we are used to. It was absolutely incredible!

We told our server we were on a golf trip but it also doubled as a ten-year anniversary trip, and she ordered us a dessert to share! It was SO good! I’m really not sure what this was, but the cake was yummy and it had a raspberry sauce and a dollop of chocolate ice cream.

That’s a wrap on my second Pebble Beach recap post, sweet friends! This one was filled with a lot more fun than the first, I hope you enjoyed it and can’t wait to hear your thoughts! Just going through all the events of this day makes me wish I was back by the ocean and walking the golf course with my hubby.

The views are amazing and that hotel room looks incredible! I’m glad you were able to go and had a good time!

It was so wonderful Lucy, I wish I was there right now, haha! Thanks so much for stopping by!!
Your hotel room looks so swish and I love the video of the sea close to the coffee shop you were in. I was curious to know what biscuits and gravy are as we don’t have that in the UK!
http://www.oomphlondon.co.uk
Thanks so much Sarah, it was beautiful and so cozy! Biscuits and gravy are a popular breakfast item here in the states. You can make them homemade, but I buy Pillsbury Grands Biscuits (raw flat bread dough basically that rises in the oven) at the store, they come in a can and you pop them on a baking sheet and then there are different kinds of gravy, but I make a sausage gravy (basically a milk and flour mixture with crumbled sausage added) and I pour the gravy over the biscuits. I hope I gave a decent description, haha, there are probably some better pictures online. They’re really good if you have some comparable things in the UK!
Starting your day with a coffee on the ocean is the best! Your hotel room looks amazing! And the views on the golf course are beautiful! So fun to walk with your husband on the course!
